FAQs
Frequently asked questions:
Why have a website?
Nearly half of the UK population has access to the internet in their homes, with a website you have the potential to reach this huge audience and beyond. Your business will also be seen as modern, innovative and progressive. The cost of publishing on the internet is significantly less than the cost of printed material and has the added benefit of being able to be updated quickly and easily, not to mention it is available to your customers 24/7. There are many other reasons, however you must decide on whether it is right for your business and more importantly your customers.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is your individual internet address for your website ie: 'www.PaulsWebsites.com'. No-one else will have the same name. We will register your domain name with the internet name registration body 'Nominet' and needs to be renewed every year.
What name can I have?
Any name that has not yet been registered, we can assist you with suggestions if required. A name with a ‘.co.uk’ ending is included in the price, if you require any other type of ending ie: .org, .net .com etc we will be happy to provide a quote.
What about an email address?
Your service will come with up to 5 email addresses, you will therefore have a more professional looking email address - instead of 'joebloggs123@pizza-service.freeserve.co.uk' you could have 'joe@pizza-service.co.uk'.
What is hosting?
Your website needs a place to be published on the internet, we place your website on a special computer permanently connected to the internet called a server.
How do people find my site?
We will design your site so that search engines and index directories will pick up a selection of key words that people are likely to look for. We will also submit your website details to the leading search engines. You will play a key part in the marketing of your website by referring customers to your site for more information through the telephone when they make enquiries and by including your domain name on all of your advertising, stationery etc.
What do I need to supply?
If you think of your website as a brochure showcasing your business then you won’t go far wrong. Your website will have the equivalent of a front cover, index and pages of content. You need to provide us with whatever text and photographs you want included on each page, we can then do the rest.
What do I do next?
Ring us if you need any help or further information or alternatively email us, all details are on the ‘contact us’ page. If you decide to proceed we will send you a short questionnaire, a quote and a copy of our terms & conditions of supply, then leave the rest to us.
Can I change the website?
Once you are happy with your website and it is live on the internet you may have reason to change some of the content from time to time I.e. pricing, opening hours etc. If this is likely you would be advised to take advantage of our managed service which means we take all of the pain out of maintaining your website. If not then we can make changes to it for you at an hourly rate.
